The time to address funding for Florida's Senior Waitlist is now! The senior population in Florida continues to grow at an astonishing rate. With nearly 5 million residents age 60 and older, Florida currently ranks first in the nation in percentage of citizens who are elders.  More than 1.6 million Floridians are age 75 and older; and the 85 and older population is the fastest growing age group by percentage. Florida has to do more to reduce the number of seniors on the waitlist. The upcoming Florida elections are about many issues, but there is only one issue that matters to the seniors on the waitlist. That issue, waitlist reduction.

The earliest years for seniors have passed, but they continue to  provide Florida and their local communities with so much. We are at a crucial time in life—and right now is a crucial time for us to lay the foundation to support our seniors during the 2017 legislative session. When budgets are to be enacted, FALA members must raise a powerful, collective voice regarding the critical importance of properly funding Florida's Long Term Care Managed Care Program and provide policymakers with the support they need to place seniors at the forefront of their legislative agendas. Political will for senior care needs our voices, right now, to create a movement. Speak up Florida, and lets make Senior Care a priority in Florida's 2017-2018 Budget.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?
  1. Make a promise. Commit now to connecting with your policymakers and building grassroots efforts in your community to advance policy and funding for senior care in Florida. Action is the only way to ensure that policymakers, elected officials and communities prioritize senior issues.
  2. Mobilize. Join FALA's initiative and help us support the officials that care about senior issues.
  3. Act on Your Plan. Follow your plan, and consider contributing to the FALA Political Action Committee. FALA supports elected officials that support assisted living and senior issues. Let's gain some ground this year. Click here for a FALPAC Form, every dollar counts.
